Things Due this week

Things to do before you turn in your essay:

  1. Read it out loud. You can use an addon in Google Docs or read it yourself.
  2. Use a Grammar checker to look for mistakes.
  3. Make sure all of your quotes are formatted correctly. Check the image below.
  4. Make sure you have an introduction and a conclusion.
Things due on Friday:
  1. Your essay. Submit your essay to Turnitin.com
  2. The Writing Stations Growth chart should be completed and turned in on Google Classroom.
  3. NoRedInk assignments should be done. The lessons on Conclusions and Context for Literary Evidence only need to be finished at 50%.
Things we will worry about when we come back from break:
  1. SAT F vocabulary list
  2. Our third book review

Finishing Day 1 of writing stations

Big Ideas: What is Golding doing in the Lord of the Flies?

Reading: Fill out the reading progress form.

Agenda:
  1. I will give you a grade for your vocabulary today.
  2. Today we will finish our Day 1 stations.
    1. Watch the Day 1 writing draft video.
    2. Watch the writing stations growth chart video.
    3. If you are at one of the NRI stations, watch the video linked on the slides. It will help you be more successful on that station.
  3. Go to the next station. Tomorrow we will do all new stations.

Success Criteria:
  1.  I can revise my essay after receiving feedback and watching mini-lessons.

Homework:

  1. Make sure you have your book finished by the end of the week.

Big Idea: How does an author develop an idea?
Agenda:
  1. On Monday I will check for SAT letter F 50%.
  2. Today we will write another body paragraph and receive feedback from our peers. Here is a copy of the novel if you need to search for evidence.
    1. Go to Peergrade.io
    2. I will give you the code to join the class
    3. We will develop the feedback questions together

  1. I can use a quote sandwich to write a body paragraph.

  3. Go to Google Classroom and create a new document. We will build the document together.
    1. Period 1 post your thesis statements here.
    2. Period 6 post your thesis statements here.
