Big Ideas: What is human nature?

Reading: Fill out the reading progress form.

Agenda:

1. Today I will grade 50% of your vocabulary. Your full vocabulary unit is due by next Monday.
2. We will start a unit on narrative writing. This unit is something new I am trying. So we will go on this adventure together.
1. We will start with a short narrative called The Rose.
2. You will find the activities for this narrative in GOOGLE CLASSROOM.
3. We will go to the library and check out Lord of the Flies. You will each have your own copy.
1. You need to finish chapter 1 (which is 30 pages) by Wednesday.
2. You will need to take LEFT side and RIGHT side notes to prepare for our discussion.
3. In your LEFT side notes, list all of the main characters introduced at the beginning of the novel. What is each one like? Draw a little picture of the island. What should you include?

Success Criteria:

1. I finished half of my vocabulary.
2. I can name the nine components of a narrative.
3. I can describe the main characters and the island.

Homework:

1. Work on your vocabulary.
2. Read chapter 1 by Wednesday. Be ready to discuss.
