Reading: Today we will read for five minutes. Your next book review will be on November 9th.
Agenda:
- We will start a unit on narrative writing. This unit is something new I am trying. So we will go on this adventure together.
- We will be working on the Paraphrases section of the document.
- You should be reading chapter two and three of The Lord of the Flies. You will each have your own copy.
- You need to finish chapter two and three by Friday.
- You will need to take LEFT side and RIGHT side notes to prepare for our discussion.
- In your LEFT side notes, list all of the main characters introduced at the beginning of the novel. What is each one like? Draw a little picture of the island. What should you include?
- Find quotes that you think demonstrate what a character is like. Write the page number next to that character's name.
Success Criteria:
- I am working on getting my vocabulary to 100%.
- I can name the nine components of a narrative.
- I can write a narrative from a different point of view.
- I can identify significant events in a novel.
- I can generate high-level questions based on what I read.
Homework:
- Work on your vocabulary.
- Read chapter two and three by Friday. Be ready to discuss.
