Reading: Today we will read for 5 minutes. If you get here early you will have extra time to read.
Agenda:
- Meet in your small groups. Push the discussion deeper and open the book frequently.
- Here are the standards for a class discussion:
- Come to discussions prepared, having read and understood material under study; explicitly draw on that preparation by referring to evidence from texts and other research on the topic or issue to stimulate a thoughtful, well-reasoned exchange of ideas.
- Propel conversations by posing and responding to questions that relate the current discussion to broader themes or larger ideas; actively incorporate others into the discussion; and clarify, verify, or challenge ideas and conclusions.
- Today we will end small group with a "One Last Word" opportunity for each person to say something.
- I will be checking your notes on Thursday.
- Submit your group's best TQEs.
- Try to use the sentence frames below.
Success Criteria:
- I can identify Golding's most important words and sentences.
- I can ask questions that deepen a conversation.
- I can learn from my classmates.
- I frequently invited someone to talk who doesn't usually participate in the discussion.
Homework:
- Your next book review will be TBD.
- You should be working on finishing your SAT letter D vocabulary.
